Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Alfredo Pascual commended the First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP) for its significant contribution to the industrial growth and economic development.
Pascual emphasized FPIP’s role as a hub for innovation, productivity and job creation during his visit on July 17, 2024, highlighting its alignment with the national goals for sustainable economic development.
“We at the DTI laud the park’s focus on fostering the growth of export-oriented industries, particularly those engaged in light to medium non-polluting manufacturing, which aligns with our national goals for sustainable economic development,” said Pascual.
FPIP, a PEZA-registered zone since 1996, houses over 150 locators and generates an average of $3.5 billion in annual export sales.
Pascual acknowledged the park’s success in attracting major players like Brother, Canon and Nestlé due to its strategic location, world-class infrastructure and sustainable practices.
The DTI’s collaboration with FPIP’s industrial business group has been instrumental in identifying and promoting prime investment locations, boosting the Philippines’ position as an attractive investment destination.
Pascual also met with Batangas business stakeholders during the Bagong Pilipinas Luzon Town Hall Meeting on the same day.
He emphasized Luzon’s potential as a leading investment destination and the island’s diverse economy, thriving micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and commitment to sustainable development.
Pascual stressed the importance of assessing the unique roles, priorities and investment profiles of Luzon’s diverse regions, as well as identifying critical areas for targeted promotion.
He also noted the interplay between industrial investments and agriculture-based products and services.
